Quilt Show Finds

Went to the 2013 International Quilt Festival at Rosemont Convention Center today with My Aunt Bonnie and our friend Aline

We had a great time perusing all the quilt vendors and spent our share of money on patterns, fabrics and other quilt items.

Here is a picture of my purchases. It was a great day with quilting friends!

Design Floor - Monday

In previous posts I showed the 12 and 6 inch blocks that I had completed for Kaye England's Double Dozen quilt. I had taken a Kaye England class last November with my aunt Bonnie and was determined to complete this top!

So now I have it laid out on the floor of our fourth bedroom. Except you can see the open spot for one of the 12 inch blocks that I had an error and I am fixing.

Back to Square One Mystery Quilt -Clue #6Done

This month we attached the pieced blocks and then another border strip.

My fabric choices are kind of bright but I am liking how this is coming out!

Craftsy June Block of the Month Done

This month the Craftsy Block is working with Y seams. While I did get it done I really did not enjoy it!  My points are ok but the block does not lay completely flat and it is slightly larger than it should be.

But it is done and I will use it when I assemble the top!

Weave It To Me quilt done!

When I saw the pattern for this quilt in a catalog I knew I had to do it!  I love baskets and have been a collector of Longaberger baskets for a few years. The pattern on this quilt looks like a basket so I just had to try it.

I picked the fabrics out of my stash with a lot of them being ones I inherited from my mother.  I cut out all of the pieces last February (meaning February of 2012), put them all in labelled bags and loaded them all into a storage box.  This past January (2013) I decided that it was time to try putting it together.

Once I started it was not that hard to figure out how to assemble the rows and the top went together rather quickly!

My Aunt Bonnie helped me to interpret the instructions and said that she wanted to try this pattern also. So now I will pass along the pattern so she can make it also.

1949 Singer Featherweight

Saw an Estate Sale today that said they had an old Singer sewing machine.  So I took a ride over a and found a beautiful Featherweight machine in its original cabinet!!  It has been converted from treadle to electric but it is beautiful!!

So I negotiated a price of $100 and ran with it!!!

I have not tried sewing on it yet but will later tonight!!
